WTF - Workshop on Tests and Fault Tolerance

About the Workshop

Fault tolerance attracts a lot of attention among researchers who are promoting techniques and methods for building reliable and highly available large scale systems. To address these issues, the Workshop on Tests and Fault Tolerance (WTF) has been established since 1998 to give researchers and practitioners the opportunity to share their ideas, experiences and expectations on the future of dependable systems. The WTF workshop has usually been held in conjunction with the Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (SBRC).

Main Topics

The workshop seeks original contributions that address the following topics, but not limited to:

  • Distributed Algorithms
  • Software and Hardware Architectures
  • Databases
  • Highly Available Clusters
  • Group Communication
  • Checkpointing
  • Mobile and Embedded Computing
  • Grid Computing
  • Tools and Automation for Tests
  • Programming Languages
  • Analytical Methods for Dependability Assessment
  • Middleware and Web Services
  • Multicasting and Routing
  • P2P, Mobile and Ad-Hoc Networks
  • Safety
  • Operating Systems
  • Real Time
  • Techniques/Generation of Test Data
  • Intrusion Tolerance
  • Fault Tolerance
  • Experimental Evaluation and Simulation

Workshop Format

In keeping with the spirit and format of a workshop, WTF will have a highly discussion-based nature. All accepted papers will be presented, with plenty of time for discussion of presentations and subsequent discussions in small focus groups.

Paper Submission

Original and unpublished papers should be written in English or Portuguese in the following categories:
(1) Regular papers containing at most 14 pages;
(2) Technical and Practical Experience Reports containing at most 10 pages;
(3) Extended-Paper submission with preliminary results, new research directions or outstanding insights containing at most 5 pages;

All accepted papers will be published in the workshops volume of the SBRC proceedings.

The format of the papers must follow the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) format (Template SBC). We recommend avoiding figures in bitmap or too small. The paper must be submitted electronically through JEMS (https://submissoes.sbc.org.br). Files need to be submitted in the PDF (Portable Document Format) format.

Important: Accepted paper authors must register in the SBRC as well as the WTF sessions, and need to present their work for publication.

Important Dates

Submission Deadlines (all papers): 3rd of March, 2012
Notification of Acceptance: 27th of March, 2012
Final Version Due: 2nd of April, 2012
